Meditation

To anyone, who has been closed to me, has noticed or has pointed out one thing in me that ‘I think too much’. I always thought this must be a complement, since only an intelligent can think, and people who have access resources of mind, can have the luxury to think. And I always feel good about it.

I had my mind resources so full to the brim, that I can spend countless days just by thinking or sometimes brooding. And my hobby list had thinking as my most important hobby. Through this thinking I constructed my own world , and made my own assumption; as controversial as, that girls are simply idiots because they have no mind, to as harmless as that dance is an idiotic activity.

Oh god, my ego was at EPOCH. Then vicissitude of life caught me. A revelation that put my ego at rest.

I always look meditation as a stupid activity, an activity of no use. The basic principle of meditation is to stop thinking ,which can be done through focused thinking or chanting holy hymn . There main principle of ‘not to think’, made me think , that meditation is for mentally retarded, low IQ people and for Old people, who have no mind left. And all of my assumption is validated when I see most of the old people and especially girls (low IQ type) in the meditation center. But my hypothesis was deemed wrong , since I miss an important assumption.

——————————————————————–
Ridiculing others, making fun of others, criticizing others and showing ones own superiority came naturally to human beings, and so to me. For me it is an important ritual of the day, and oh god, the world , the media, the books , the newspaper, always help me and gives me good supply in inordinate quantity through out the day. So, one day I sat down and started directing this ritual activity towards meditation.

First came, our own ASTHA channel, baba ramdev, asharam babuji -the guys who have copious amount of money, don’t pay income tax, charges lacs of rupees for pravachuns and then tell people to go away with MAYA.

Then I shifted from electron beams ( Television) , to OSHO. And I love osho, osho provides me a good material for studying hermeunitics ( knowledge about knowledge, a process of interpretation . Osho is persuasive and captivating, and is the most persuasive writer. He do not says anything, but only tells stories and ancedotes, letting the reader makes his own interpretation. He may sometime say something and after some times contradict what he says, since we usually don’t read, but filter stuff , so we do not notice this anomaly, but only get swayed by his writings. What dale cargnie says, that the best way to build rapport is to say what other person wants to hear.

After reading and watching a lot from mortals, I started to read talks on meditation by immortals, and shifted to GAUTUM BUDHA.

And then I was struck with an assumption, that I cannot prove wrong, whose weight was so heavy that my inner neurological mind cells are still arranging from this blow.

Now here goes the assumption.

We believe that we have five senses , or five tools through which we see the world.

->Tonge – for taste
->Skin – for touch
->Eyes – to see
->Ears – to hear
->Nose – to smell

These are the tools that we use to interact with the world, now there is common sense too, but since majority do not possess, we cannot generalize and kept it as five.

Now budhist believes that we have a sixth sense (apart from common sense), that is the Mind, which thinks.

Now this is a heavy blow to me, as I believe in what “cogito ergo sum” , or ” I think therfore I am” ( rene descrates ). It is not that I believe in it, but the whole western philosophy is based on this assumption. Now here comes a guy who says, oh , look, this is stupid, you are presenting the same argument that

->I taste, therefore I am
->I touch, therefore I am
->I can see,therefore I am
->I can hear, therfore I am
->And, I can smell, therefore I am.

But I have to say, that there is some truth to the matter. There is something above all mind and sense stuff.
—————————————————————

Lets start with the thing called identity, who are you ?

Are you your mind, or something beyond it ?

What if I take your mind, copy it , and paste it on another person mind , will both of you would be same person ?

Or what if I teleport you, in this process, I would send information of every bit of your body (including mind) to some other location, and where using that information they will construct another to copy of you, but in this process, you the orignal you will be destroyed(for information sake ), now will the newer construct would be same as the older person ?

Now the answer to all this question is NO. why ? Because, we intuitively know there is something more to us, then the senses know ( including mind ).

And this is what meditation is all about.

Meditation is all about knowing that we are not “all our mind”, it is knowing that “mind as a tool” and it is all about “spiritual awareness”, i.e connecting to something beyond us.
