my office is at 5th floor, from 1st to 4th, we have bankers working – american express, citibank, etc. For the first few weeks i felt bit inferior, by seeing each and every employee of the company, coming in an Imposing dress – ties, suits, polished shoes, and above all well dressed. It is not the senior dressed, but the young people also wear such imposing dresses, and to add to that they have “UNGREZI” on their lips. Compare to that, my engineering office, people comes in T-shirt, half polished shoes, Shirts half matching with the colour of pants ( including me). It was not me, but also the senior too. and i have to say, i felt a terrible feeling, i mean, what i felt , or what i say, everybody feels is , DRESS SHOWS WHO YOU ARE.

I mean, these management grads, are always higher then the engineering grads, Is not it. but then, there is something about the nature of work that hits me, we engineering people are more involved in the object world, to build this or that, it hardly matters on what dress we wear. But these bankers are service industry people, who needs to deal with the real people of this world. they have to seduce them to give there die hard earned money to them, they have to deal with clients, which some of the time have to be foreign, and also they require good communication skill, which in this case means english.

What i rationalize is that, these management guys or Bankers have to maintain a degree of superficiality of grandeur. and we ENGINEERS, whati call are DESI PEOPLE, who are least concerned about there appearance,but more on there work.
